At Doylestown Dental, we respect that each patient has unique needs and concerns. If you feel anxious about dental visits, we know there’s nothing like a kind word or friendly smile to put you at ease.
But we also value the ways that advanced technology can improve your care by making treatments faster, more comfortable, and more productive. If it has been a while since you last visited a dental office, we think you will be pleasantly surprised to learn all the ways technology can improve your experience!
Please take a few moments to learn more about our state-of-the-art technology. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call us for more information!
One of the most important jobs we have is to educate you about different aspects of your oral health care. That is why we have chosen to invest in technology like intraoral cameras that include you in the process and give you a better understanding of the state of your dental health.
An intraoral camera is a small device that is used to show us real-time pictures of your teeth. The camera is small and fits comfortably in your mouth. As our doctors direct it over your teeth, the image is displayed immediately on your chairside monitor. With intraoral cameras, you are an active participant in your exam because the detailed images let you see for yourself what the problem is and why treatment is needed.
One of the most important diagnostic tools in dentistry is dental x-rays. Today, with the capability of digital imaging, diagnosing dental conditions has never been safer, more comfortable, or more accurate.
Digital x-rays are a state-of-the-art technology that helps your doctors see minute details they might not identify with a regular visual exam.
With digital x-ray technology, we can display and manipulate the image just as you would a photo on your phone. Your doctor can pinpoint specific areas by zooming in, zooming out, and even rotating the image to give you a precise picture of the problem. Since digital x-rays produce such high-resolution pictures, we can diagnose and treat conditions when they are small – and long before they cause any discomfort.
Patients who have safety concerns will be comforted to know that digital x-rays produce far less radiation than film x-rays; some estimates say as much as 95 percent less. Also, since there are no hazardous chemicals to dispose of, digital images are safer for the environment. Since your x-rays are stored electronically on our secure system, we can quickly send them to your insurance company or specialists as needed.
Patients with dental anxiety often tell us that one aspect of dentistry that they especially don’t like is the sound that dental equipment makes. At Doylestown Dental, we use electric handpieces that produce much less vibration and are much quieter than traditional instruments.
Since electric handpieces have a light for greater precision, we can provide a better experience for our patients. Electric handpieces also offer a level of accuracy that is not possible with the air-driven tools used in the past.
This updated technology allows us to quickly and efficiently remove decay and plaque, which streamlines your procedure so you can spend as little time in the dental chair as possible!
DIAGNOdent Cavity Detector
Our patients love our DIAGNOdent Cavity Detector because it allows us to detect cavities when they are still small and can usually be easily treated.
One of the challenges with dental decay is that it often occurs between teeth or in tiny spaces (especially in molars), making it difficult to detect in early stages with traditional methods.
DIAGNOdent is a small handheld dental laser that our doctors use to scan the surface of your teeth to find even the most minor cavities easily. When the equipment detects a cavity, it illuminates the area, making it easy to find the problem. When we can identify decay in its early stages, we have the best chance for minimal treatment and improved long-term results.
