CareCredit allows you to receive important care, and then make manageable monthly payments until the balance is paid in full. Bridges and Same-Visit Crowns
Q. Why do I need a dental crown?
Dental enamel is strong, in fact, it’s the hardest substance in the human body. But we depend on our teeth to do a lot of work over the years, and as strong as enamel is, it’s not indestructible.
At Doylestown Dental, we use crowns to restore function and appearance when your teeth start to break down. One example is a tooth that has already had multiple fillings. In this case, a crown is often the best solution to provide support and protection. Also, clenching or grinding your teeth (bruxism) can cause significant wearing and erosion and can damage your teeth before you realize it. Another situation where our doctors might recommend a crown is after a root canal to add strength and protection.
We design esthetic crowns that are made of porcelain and customized to blend seamlessly with your smile. You have the option of choosing a lab-fabricated crown that requires several visits, or our doctors can talk to you about state-of-the-art same-visit crowns that allow you to leave our office after your appointment and get on with your life.
Our all-porcelain dental crowns are made to replicate the appearance of dental enamel so they enhance your appearance as well as protect your oral health. If one of your teeth is damaged and you think a dental crown might be a good solution, please call us to schedule a consultation with Doylestown dentist Dr. Jacko or Dr. Siefker.
Dental Implants
Q. What are the benefits of dental implants?
A. One of the most exciting advances in dentistry has been the introduction of dental implants. Implants have been used for over 40 years and have an impressive 95% success rate.
Implants are unique because they replace both the missing tooth and its root. The foundation of an implant is a tiny titanium post that is placed surgically in your jaw. After the implant heals, we attach a crown or other restoration that completes your smile and allows you to eat, speak, and smile comfortably.
When you lose a tooth, bone in your jaw gradually dissolves and eliminates support for other teeth. Implants are the perfect solution because the titanium root stimulates the growth of healthy bone in the jaw. Your oral health also improves because an implant holds a space that prevents crowding and tooth misalignment.
With proper care, your implant will last a lifetime, making it a cost-effective option for tooth replacement. At some point in the future, we may need to replace the restoration, but the implant itself is a permanent part of your dental anatomy.

Q. What tooth replacement options do you offer?
A. At Doylestown Dental, we understand that dealing with missing teeth takes a toll on your comfort, your appearance, and your overall ability to enjoy life. We want to help you enjoy the benefits of a whole and healthy smile, so we offer several options for tooth replacement.
Of all the solutions we offer, dental implants are by far the tooth replacement method of choice – with good reason. Unlike other types of tooth replacement, an implant includes an artificial root that is surgically placed in your jaw and allowed to heal. The result is a healthy, durable foundation that can be restored with a crown, bridge, or denture.
You may think you know all about dentures, but in recent years we have seen some remarkable advances in dental materials and techniques. Our high-quality dentures are fabricated by skilled technicians using the most updated materials and technology available today. The result is tooth replacement that allows you to speak, eat, and smile comfortably. If you are concerned about dentures that move and shift, we will be happy to talk to you about combining them with dental implants to hold the denture securely in place.
A dental bridge is a time-tested option for tooth replacement. The goal of a bridge is to fill the space left by a missing tooth to restore function and appearance.
If you are tired of living with a gap in your smile, please call Doylestown Dental for a consultation. Our doctors will be happy to explain your options and choose the one that best fits your needs.
Periodontal Treatment
Q. Why do I have tooth sensitivity?
If consuming hot or cold foods and beverages causes discomfort, you may be dealing with sensitive teeth. It is a common dental complaint, and there are a number of reasons why you might be experiencing tooth sensitivity:
- Periodontal (gum) disease
- Tooth decay
- Defective fillings
- Teeth grinding
- Worn tooth enamel
- Cracked or fractured teeth
- Exposed tooth roots
The layer beneath your enamel is called dentin, and it contains tiny tubes that run from the outer portion of your tooth to the center of your tooth where the nerve is located. Exposed dentin is stimulated by temperature variations, and the result is tooth sensitivity and discomfort. Tooth sensitivity can actually impact your life and change basic habits like the food and drinks you choose to consume.
The good news is that we can treat sensitive teeth at our Doylestown dental office. We usually recommend a desensitizing toothpaste or make appropriate suggestions for treatment based on the reason for your sensitivity. We can also help you avoid developing tooth sensitivity by teaching you proper oral hygiene practices and keeping up with scheduled dental appointments.
Do you wince when you consume hot or cold foods? Please call Doylestown Dental to arrange an appointment. Our doctors will be happy to review your oral hygiene practices and make suggestions for dealing with sensitivity.
Teeth Whitening
Q. Is teeth whitening safe?
Teeth whitening supervised by a dentist is completely safe. If you are worrying about stories you have heard involving sensitivity or burning sensations, those have more to do with misuse or overuse of products purchased in a store or online.
Peroxide, the active ingredient in whitening products, can lead to problems with your gum health, like gingivitis or gum sensitivity. Overdoing your whitening with products like whitening strips can also cause erosion of the protective layer of enamel.
Many people are tempted to turn to over-the-counter whitening products because of their accessibility. However, you don’t have the benefit of turning to a professional if a problem occurs. Another problem with store-bought whiteners is that they usually include a generic boil-and-bite tray. Since they don’t conform perfectly to your teeth like professional whitening trays, they will never produce the uniform, consistent results of an in-office treatment.
Before you waste a lot of time on money on whitening products that don’t work all that well, look into professional treatments at our Doylestown, OH dental office. We offer both in-office treatments and customized take-home kits for your convenience.
Professional whitening performed by your dentist provides peace of mind because you know you have a professional to oversee the process and turn to if something goes wrong. If you are interested in learning about all the benefits of a professional whitening treatment, please call us to arrange an appointment so we can discuss your needs.
