Digital X-Rays

If you want a healthy smile, there’s no way around it – you must be proactive with your oral hygiene and schedule routine dental visits to minimize your risk for problems like decay and gum disease.

We can provide you with the most appropriate treatment at Doylestown Dental when we can detect and diagnose problems in their earliest stages – before they become complicated to treat. This is just one reason why we have chosen to invest in state-of-the-art digital x-ray technology.

A Better Experience with Digital X-Rays

With digital x-rays, we can significantly minimize your exposure to stray radiation and maximize our ability to identify and correct conditions that can’t be seen with a visual exam.

The usual process for taking traditional film x-rays involves a dental assistant positioning a clip of film precariously between your teeth. The film is designed to absorb radiation to produce an x-ray image of your teeth.

Digital x-rays, however, do away with the need for bulky film. Instead, we use a flat sensor with comfortable rounded edges that’s easier to position properly in your mouth. Since these images are digital, they don’t require any processing time, and we can share them with you in moments on your chairside monitor.

Using digital x-rays gives us more control of the pictures we take so we can zero in on the area of the tooth we need to treat. The sensors generate high-resolution x-ray images of the tooth that we electronically store on our secure in-house network.

Why We Choose Digital Imaging

Healthy smiles don’t just happen, so you need to be actively involved in all aspects of your oral health care.

Digital x-rays allow you to take part in the diagnostic process because you can see what we see as we point out the problem. A picture is worth a thousand words, so seeing the problem for yourself can help you understand why we recommend treatment.

In addition to being more comfortable and providing improved diagnoses, digital x-rays also have other advantages:

  • Digital x-rays minimize your exposure to radiation significantly. Some estimates say that they reduce your exposure to radiation by about 95%.
  • We can store your x-rays securely on our network, which makes them easily accessible when needed for reference or to monitor conditions.
  • This easy access to your images enables us to share them easily with a specialist or your insurance company as needed
  • There are no hazardous chemicals necessary for development, so there’s no waste to dispose of, making digital x-rays safer for the environment!
